    House Bill 19-1329 has Passed

Thank you to our members for reaching out to our local legislators during the time the bill was passing through the house and senate.  With your help, we were able to convey the importance of this bill to Colorado Agriculture businesses.

    House Bill 19-1329

There has been a flurry of activity in the Colorado Legislature in the last 24 hours regarding changes taxing of fertilizers as a result of the new budget bill put into law last week.

RMAA has been working on behalf our members, in support of a new bill presented last night by Sen. Jerry Sonnenberg, to circumvent this action and reinstate the sale and use tax exemption for fertilizer and related products.  As you are aware, this issue was addressed several years ago to ensure Colorado did not suffer a competitive disadvantage with our surrounding states.  It is estimated that nearly $800,000 in lost revenue per year will occur should HB 19-1329 not pass.

Our Legislative Committee took quick action to provide testimony on the bill today, which appears to be on a course to pass handily.  Our lobbyist, Jennifer Cassell continues to monitor the progress of the bill as it moves from the House to the Senate. We’re encouraging you to reach out to your representatives to support this bill.

You can email your legislators at: https://coloradocapitolwatch.com/search5/find_legislator.php.

RMAA will continue to track and monitor these activities on behalf of our members throughout the region.

For additional information, see the links below regarding the House Bill and a memo from the Colorado Ag Council, which details further background.
